The Mighty X-Track Hilux by Superior Engineering

So you’ve seen one of our X-Track Hilux giveaways and want to know more! Well, you’ve come to the right place. 

X-Track is a kit designed and manufactured by Superior Engineering for the Toyota Hilux Dual Cab SR or SR5’s. The kit offers Australia wide legal suspension modifications and GVM increases that aren’t available in a single package from anyone else in Australia. 

These Hiluxs are built under the Second Stage Manufacture Scheme. This means that Superior Engineering receives the vehicles before they’ve been registered and can offer legal modifications that wouldn’t otherwise be allowed under the current regulations. 

We’ll dive into the full list of inclusions but in short, the X-Track Australia Wide Legal Suspension Upgrade Package gives you a coil converted rear end, overall height increase of 6 inches above standard and a track width increase of 11 inches with a GVM increase to 3,560kg. 

Upper Control Arms & Coilovers 

The X-Track uses a Pair of Superior Extended Adjustable Chromoly Upper Control Arms which are integral to re-aligning the front end, and help in the Track Width increase of 11 Inches over Standard. These Upper Control Arms wrap around our Superior Engineering 2.5” Bore Remote Reservoir Coilovers which give the front end 11 Inches of Total Wheel Travel. The Finned Reservoir on the Coilovers gives an increase in shock cooling efficiency for those long hard drives.

A Strong Foundation 

The Wide Track Lowers are manufactured from 5mm thick 350 Grade steel and utilise OEM Ball Joints and Bushes for long term reliability and ease of sourcing replacement components. OEM Bump Stops are also utilised and fitted in the same location as the factory to allow as much suspension travel as possible.

Sway Bar 

To allow the Extended Uppers, Lowers & 2.5” Coilovers to work to their full potential, Superior Engineering has developed a new Front Sway Bar exclusively for the X-Track which allows better front-end Suspension movement. This Sway Bar and Track Width Increase results in unmatched vehicle stability. All this width and travel increase called for extended CV’s. X-Track comes equipped standard with 4340 Grade Replacement Extended Inner Axles which are coupled with the OEM CV’s. CV life is protected by a 40mm Diff Drop kit.

Wheel coverage 

To cover the enormous 11 Inches of Front Wheel Track Increase and 35” Tyres, the Superior X-Track comes equipped with ADR Compliant Wide Track Composite replacement front guards. The 11 Inch track increase in the rear comes equipped with our Wide Track Composite tub guards. Wheel coverage is topped off with Superior Engineering branded Polyflex mudflaps.

Underbody

Although the X-track mods make it unlikely you’ll ever get stuck or belly out, the kit includes the full Underbody Guard Kit (Engine/Sump, Gearbox and Transfer Guard) that includes a Front Recovery Point (SWL 5,000kg).

Coil Converted Rear End 

The heart and soul of the Superior Engineering X-Track is the Wide Track Coil Converted Rear End. This kit gives you 11 Inches of Track Width Increase gains to match the front courtesy of the Australian Made Diamond Diff Housing. This housing has been Designed, Developed and Manufactured right here in Australia using a combination of 4140 Chromoly and 350 Grade Steel, with 4340M Grade Axles.

Wheel Travel 

Superior X-Track is unrivalled by its peers with a total of 14 Inches of Rear Wheel Travel standard which lets the 35” Rear Tyre drop below the sill.

GVM 

The X-Track is developed with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 3,560kg, whilst maintaining the 3,500kg towing capacity. That’s an extra 510kg that can be packed into the vehicle, perfect for camping.
