It’s Track Season! But before you hit rubber to the road, make sure you’re prepared! Here are some beginner-friendly tips to know before getting on track! Our Motor Culture Australia track days are fun, family-friendly, and beginner-friendly events – there’s something there for everyone! Whether you’re a seasoned track driver or you’ve never seen a track before in your life, our events are for you! Here are some tips to help you prepare for the day 👇
1.Don’t overthink it.
Track days are easier and less risky than you may initially think. After all, they’re designed for fast driving. Track venues often have sand pits and tyre barriers to help keep everyone safe.
2. Go at your own pace.
Don’t worry about chasing other cars and trying to keep up. Start slow, get a feel for the track, and slowly build up your speed. Everyone has different experience levels, so there’s no point trying to impress someone or show off and risk damaging your car—or your ego.
3. Bring friends or family.
This is optional, but friends and family can make the day much more fun! Plus, if you know someone who’s experienced on the track, then maybe you could ask them to take you around the track and give you some tips and tricks during one of our passenger sessions!
4. Attend happy laps/cruise sessions.
Cruises are a good event to start with. There’s no competition, and there are usually a few more rules in place to keep these sessions more laid-back. Most track venues would apply road rules and a speed limit of around 120km/hr to these sessions.
5. Bring the required gear.
Being prepared and bringing everything you need will make the day much smoother! If you’re just attending the cruise sessions, you won’t need anything special apart from a driver’s license and a racer’s license to go on track (a racer’s license depends on the track venue). If you want to participate in sprints or drags, you’ll most likely need to bring a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and a helmet. Many venues offer a limited number of helmets you can rent on the day if you’ve forgotten yours or if you don’t own one.
So there you have it! Our top 5 beginner-friendly track tips! The only thing left to do is grab some tickets for an upcoming track day near you. We often host a number of track days each year. You can check out our upcoming events by clicking here!
